Format decisions

JPG is widely compatible for photographs and has no alpha transparency. PNG preserves pixel values without lossy encoding and can retain partially transparent edges. WebP can use lossy or lossless encoding and supports alpha. GIF uses indexed palettes and can animate. Changing a container cannot recover detail already lost in the source.

Understanding image to wbmp

WBMP conversion reduces a picture to the monochrome wireless bitmap format.

Simplify the source and check whether small details survive a one bit black and white output.

A practical workflow

  1. Choose the required source files, if any. Files are handled as stated in the workspace privacy label.
  2. Set the available controls and apply the operation.
  3. Compare the actual output, check its dimensions and download the generated file.

Decisions and limitations

  • Quality (%)

20 MB input and 16 megapixels maximum. Static conversion uses the first image frame or page. JPG/BMP/EPS do not retain alpha. Lossless conversion cannot recover detail already discarded by the source. Specialized HEIC, document and camera decoders must be installed on the deployment.
